James Ellis has been a professional airbrush artist for nearly two decades and an artist for as long as he can remember.  He started young taking art through private instructors.  He later went on to major in  Advertising Design at

Mississippi Delta Community College.  There he studied under Jean Abrams and Wallace Malette. The curriculum was an intense study in principles of design and color with and emphasis in painting.  It was at this time when James first picked up the airbrush.  James graduated with honors and received awards for painting as well as the Department Head Transfer Scholarship.  He went on to study Graphic Design and Sculpture at

Delta State University where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.  James' internship lead him to Greenville, MS where he worked as an illustration artist for

Delta Design Group.  He also taught workshops for the Greenville Arts Council.  It was this experience that led him to obtain his educators license and return to School at

The University of Southern Mississippi.  James accepted a position as General Manager of a transport company which brought him to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.  In 2002 James opened Hybrid Image, Inc.

After a season on the beach in Biloxi at Surf Style in 2002 James  established Hybrid Image, Inc.  James had worked in many different setting and along side seveal artists.  He was experienced with  working   festivals, fleas, and malls.  He knew what it took to operate a mall retail shop and that's just what happened.  In the Fall of 2002 Hybrid Image Airbrush opened in a small space in Singing River Mall and continued growing into larger spaces.  In 2009 Hybrid Image expanded it's operation to Biloxi's Edgewater Mall.   Over the years Hybrid Image increased the services that it offered the pubic.  It started with only airbrush. Then added vinyl decals, photo imaged shirts and other goods.  In the later years Hybrid Image even offered embroidery. There was a period of time when James did glass etching as well.

Due to the climate of rising costs and a falling economy it became clear that Hybrid Image, Inc. would have to head into a new direction.  We are very thankful for all of the support and great customers that gave us 10 wonderful years of having a store front on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.  In June of 2012 Hybrid Image closed it's mall retail operations.

Hybrid Image, Inc. moved on to contract work doing a variety of jobs  painting;  wall murals, motorcycles, temporary tattoos at parties...the most importantly it's Summer contract with Surf Style.
